Black Canary Barbie: Badass Super Chick Doll?

Apparently, Black Canary Barbie was Mattel’s attempt to create a badass remake of the DC Comics superheroine. Sans pants in her body suit, Black Canary Barbie wears knee-high black gladiator boots and biker gloves.

“The combination of the Black Canary’s courage, fighting prowess, and her sex appeal (accentuated by her characteristic fishnet stockings) has resulted in her being referred to as ‘The Blonde Bombshell,’” Wikipedia explains of the original character.

“Black Canary is noted for her martial-arts skills and her ‘Canary Cry’ – a high powered, sonic scream with the ability to shatter objects and incapacitate villains.”

Well, well, well…

This is just what we need.  Another scantily clad doll for our little girls to play with.  I get it.  She’s supposed to be some superbad fighting, tough, cool chick that will whip your butt then run you down with her motorcycle that is based on a comic book character.   Fine.

Yeah.  It’s great for a comic, but who’s gonna buy this for thier daughter.  This is soooo NOT the barbie to give little Lisa and think that the “Hot Chick” message will be ignored.  Do we need to have a doll with fishnets and black leather boots, jacket and gloves?

Let this doll round out your comic book character collection.  A summer sun barbie works just as good, if not better, to give to the girls to play with.  Trampy Barbie is a no-no.
