Woman In Duke Lacrosse Case Tells Her Side Of The Story

October 23, 2008
I don’t know what to make of this.  There are so many stories of rape that never go reported or the victim’s story is deemed a “false allegation”.
Those of you that know me personally also know of my own ordeal with a situtation of this genre.
Crystal Magnum is the young woman who was alleged to have been raped by member of the Duke Lacrosse team.
Crystal Mangum, the alleged victim in the Duke lacrosse rape case, addresses the media during a press conference on the release of Mangum’s forthcoming book ‘The Last Dance for Grace: The Crystal Mangum Story,’ while her publisher and co-author Vincent Clark advises her in Durham, N.C., on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008. DURHAM, N.C. – The woman who prosecutors determined falsely accused three Duke lacrosse players of rape maintains in a new memoir that she was attacked, a claim that provoked an angry lawsuit threat from one player’s family.

Crystal Mangum, who appeared publicly Thursday for the first time since making the allegations more than two years ago, says in her book being made available online Friday that she is not “looking forward to opening old wounds” but that she had to defend herself.

“Even as I try to move on with my life, I still find it necessary to take one more stand and fight,” she writes in an excerpt of the book, “The Last Dance for Grace: The Crystal Mangum Story.”

I am not going to judge Miss Magnum.  We will probably only have this piece of literature to judge her by.  Did she lie?  Who’s story was more credible?  Could you really have a rape occur and not have enough evidence to prove it happened?   Were the Lacrosse team players truly innocent or did they get away scott free?

Only time will tell.  I believe karma will bring light on this situation eventually.

As with my own situation, it took years…but karma showed her true colors in my favor.  Karma is justice.
