Celebrities Behaving Badly: Jon & Kate Gosselin Divorce Is Imminent

After months of speculation, the 10-year marriage of Jon & Kate Plus Eight‘s stars Kate and Jon Gosselin appears to be coming to an end, a source close to the situation tells PEOPLE.

Documents to initiate a legal split were filed in Pennsylvania Monday afternoon.

Fans who have watched the couple’s popular TLC show – or read the voluminous coverage of the Gosselin marriage in the press – will hardly be surprised: The duo had long maintained a tense relationship, with Jon recently telling PEOPLE he wanted a less high-profile life, while Kate appeared to remain committed to their TV career.

I am sad.  This marriage had something going, but both parties had to be willing to work at it.   Kate had to soften up a bit, put some “sugar” in her tone of voice and behave more like a lady and less like a drill instructor, and I mean to her husband, not to the children.  Jon needed to stop being a human doormat.  It’s selfish to break up with EIGHT children…At least sleep in separate quarters, but stay in the same house for the sake of the children…or get divorced and live in a huge 2 family.

You can divorce and still respect the other party.  It’s as rare as catching me in public without makeup…but in all seriousness, it could happen.
