Patrick Swayze R.I.P 1952-2009

This multi-talented actor lost his battle to cancer.  He was 57.

I spent years being a Swayze fan.  Most of his characters were the tough guy with the heart of gold.

In the movie, The Outsiders, he played the older brother trying to take care of his two rebel-rousing siblings.  He played the same type of character in Red Dawn.

In the movie, Dirty Dancing, he played the sexy outcast who danced his way into everyone’s hearts.

In the movies, Ghost and Roadhouse, he played characters that had the ability to overcome difficult odds.

In later movies, like Black Dog, he played a truck driving parolee, who was just trying to take care of his family.

His characters were simple men just trying to do the best they can to survive.  I can’t help but think that Patrick had a side to him that way, too.

Never a scandal.  No Hollywood affairs or breakups.  He was married to his wife, Lisa.  They had no children.

Rest in peace.  You will be missed.

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008. His publicist says he died with his family at his side.

He was the star of such movies as “Ghost,” “Dirty Dancing,” and “Road House

.” Swayze was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.
