Here’s my open letter to Fantasia Barrino.

Dearest Fantasia,

You are such a blessing to many young women. Young women have seen you rise to become a true songbird of this generation. These are also young women who have had children, as well, and now know they can still become successful and make their deams come true.

And, it is my prayer for you that you cease your hoochie mama, totally trashy style of dress at this moment.

Someone somewhere will help your image. Your voice is beautiful and there is no doubt that you are a unique talent, but this ‘style’ of yours says you are everything but talented.

You have set an example that hard work and determination for women will pay off. Now, accept responsibility and know that young women are watching you and how you dress. You could send a message of femininity and modesty as soon as you know you need to get the message yourself.

Young women need to see their role models keeping a positive image in their behavior, manner and clothing. You are a role model, Fastasia. The world knows it and I hope you embrace it. I hope you will reexamine your image and how you present yourself in public.

Honey, it’s time to get a stylist!

With Love,

Seriously

lol man where do i start. if you read fantasia book that was written to inspire young girls you would see the reason she dresses like she does. talent or not the girl is no “darling” she is a hoodrat at her core a nice hoodrat but a hoodrat all the same. harsh i know but true. the first albums she didn’t write any songs she just sang this last album she unleashed the real ‘tasia lol

This is not the crux of the issue. Where we are from molds us as to who we are today. Very few young althletes, or celbrities seem to seek counsel of someone who will mold and mentor them into more than a whole lot of benjamins. The look of the Motown Sound was not a coincidence. It was Mr. Berry Gordy taking those singers under his wing and sending them to etiquette class, teaching them how to dress and more. Yes, Fantasia could stand to get some real friends who will tell you the truth, hire a stylist, go to etiquette class and more, but she is not alone.

I agree with you. It’s sad that it seems that as a culture, we have commited ourselves to not doing better. I hate that this has happened and I am commited to doing what I can to change it
