Jay Leno Vs. Conan Vs. NBC: Conan Is Out, Jay Is Back

January 15, 2010

Well, no matter what Rosie O’Donnell thinks, Jay Leno is not stepping aside.

Rosie O’Donnell said Thursday that it’s time for Jay Leno to step aside for Conan O’Brien and “not try to flatten his tires before he even gets going.”–Via

Actually, he is reclaiming his old home on the Tonight show.

What a hot mess at NBC and what I think is singed with a little bit of age discrimination by kicking Jay Leno out of his spot anyhow.

I do feel badly for Conan O’Brien, who hauled his late night butt all the way to the West coast from NY, to host a show for 7 months.  This is not an oopsy.  Somebody ‘fudged’ up somewhere.

Yet, with every closed door, there is a new window opportunity.  I am sure Conan will be picked up by another network (Fox) and give another shot at what he does best.

Lights out, Conan.

Late-night funnyman Conan O’Brien’s last night as host of “The Tonight Show” will likely be next Friday, allowing Jay Leno to reclaim his old time slot.

“Conan does not currently plan on doing any more new shows after next week,” a source told People magazine‘s Web site this afternoon. reported today that Leno struck a deal with NBC to reclaim the 11:35 p.m. to 12:35 a.m. “Tonight Show” slot.

If Jan. 22 is O’Brien’s final live broadcast, the show will have ended two weeks before NBC’s scheduled preemption for its 2010 Winter Olympics coverage.

“After only seven months, with my ‘Tonight Show’ in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule,” O’Brien said in Tuesday’s statement.
