My Fellow Americans…

I was told by a wise person many years ago that you learn something new everyday. Today was no exception.

I learned all about “Chavs” today. What is a “chav”, you ask?

“Chavs” are the English equilivilent of a “hoochie mama” or “white trash”.

“Chavs” are also called Neds, Townies, Kevs, Charvers, Steeks, Spides, Bazzas, Yarcos, Ratboys, Kappa Slappers, Skangers, Scutters, Janners, Stigs, Scallies and Hood Rats.

Sigh…So many names…

There are also ABSO kids in England. This is very similar to the “ghetto” or “delinquent” lifestyle we have here in the USA. More on ABSO’s later.

    Hi, this has got to be the BEST explanation of what a chav is to those who don’t know yet. Here in Hong Kong, “chav” is even more unknown than in America. Thank goodness for this place! – Robert in Hong Kong.

    For the record,

    The website lulugoesadventuring.wordpress.com/tag/chavs/ is the first to come up when you google search “chav”.

    This photo was sent to me via internet, in fact, it’s all over the internet.

    So say one, so say them all.

    The girl pretending to be a chav is me. The picture is taken from my blog and whilst it may be all over the internet, most sites have credited me with it.

    Your copy is the number 1 google image search for ‘chav’ and I suspect that gets you hundred of hits per day as when my copy of the image was top match, I got loads of traffic which I now don’t get because people have stolen my image rather than linking to it.
